Description

The 10 x 50 Dienstglas was one of the most used German issued binoculars of WWII. These are fully functional with clear optics and made by one of the very best makers at the time Emil Busch of Rathenow. This is nicely marked as follows:

Dienstglas
10×50
396219
cxn
The maker code is for Emil Busch of Rathenow, Germany. The serial number identifies it as being produced in 1944.  The binoculars body is made from aluminum alloy and steel.

Markings mean the following:  “Dienstglas” or Service Glass,  “10×50” (magnification), “396219” the serial number assigned by the manufacturer, “Δ” indicates the type of grease to be applied and “CXN”  Emil Busch A-G, Optische Industrie, Rathenow.  At some point the capturing GI engraved his serial number to the front left of the binocular body.

Both diopter adjustments operate smoothly and there are no chips or dings on the eye cups. The optics are in excellent condition and clear.

Included is the excellent dark leather carry case with heavy white stitching and a functional spring loaded closure strap.  the leather case is also marked with the Waffenampt “Waa 14”, makers name “Walter Winkler, Spandau” and with a date that appears to read 1942.  The case is fitted with the leather waist loop for attaching to a belt.

Showing only a minor wear, overall an excellent example of the classic eye piece for German infantry officers during WW2!  We only have one of these!
