The bolt is machined from 9310 tool steel.
- Heat treated to military specifications
- Shot Peened
- Ground to meet military required tolerances
- MPI (Mag Particle Inspected)
The Carrier is made with 8620 aerospace grade steel.
Components meet Mil-Spec standards for machining and heat treatment.
All Toolcraft carriers are post-heat treat machined to remove any distortion that has occurred during the heat treat process. The outside rails that are in contact with the upper are ground after heat treat. Next, the inside bore where the bolt is doing the work is machined. This ensures the gas rings are not damaged and that the weapon cycles and charges smoothly. These standards are not just met, but we exceed them on every operation during the machining processes and this effort gives our carriers a superior finish with no machining lines.
Toolcraft machines each carrier to last for thousands of rounds and that is why they offer with confidence a Lifetime Warranty on their products. These standards have given each consumer the confidence that when they use a Toolcraft bolt carrier group in their weapon, it will do what it was created to do, round after round for years to come.

COATING-BLACK NITRIDE
-
Black Nitride is a process commonly referred to as SBN (Salt bath nitride) and QPQ (quench polish quench). These are a form of nitrocarburizing or a Thermo Chemical treatment that improves wear resistance and corrosion resistance of ferrous metals with little or no dimensional change which causes the hardening of steel. The chemical bath results in a deep dark black with a harder, more durable finish.
