Description
This is a rare Canadian Inglis Hi Power MKI, produced for the Chinese contract in 1945. It comes with an original as issued detachable shoulder stock that also doubles as a holster and a matching magazine. These guns were part of a contract ordered by the Chinese government to arm the Chiang Kai-Sheks troops in their fight against Mao Zedong and the communist forces.
This pistol was manufactured in Canada by the John Inglis Company, due to FN being in the hands of the Germans. FN’s chief designer, Dieudonné Saive, who had escaped to England, was able to reproduce manufacture drawings from his memory, which aided in the design of these guns. Though many of the guns did not make it to China, the remaining guns were adopted by the Canadian and British militaries. These guns can be identified by the CH letters in the serial number and feature a 500m tangent rear sight, a dovetail front sight, and a lanyard ring.
This pistol never made it to China. It was imported by Century International from Canadian Military stores in the early nineties. The finish appears original. So many of these at some point in their history were refinished, usually by parkerizing. Overall condition is excellent. There are no signs of corrosion anywhere on the pistol. By far the nicest Inglis I’ve seen in a long time. There is a faint import mark on the bottom of the front strap. Its shown in the photos.
The shoulder stock holster is likewise in excellent condition with no signs of abuse. It is 100% authentic, and possesses the correct markings. Fit of the stock to the pistol is solid with little play.
This is a very desirable example of a wartime Hi Power for anyone who is trying to complete a WWII pistol collection.
