Description
This example is one of the first AK magazine capable SKS rifles imported into the USA. SKS-“D” is not an official designation, since there was no unique model assigned to these I will refer to this “-D” s0 not confuse it with standard SKS rifles.
This is the first of the newly manufactured -D rifles that were AK magazine capable. They were not rebuilt or re-arsenaled. These rifles came with a military style stock and have a dull tung oil finish. They are equipped with a cleaning kit in the butt stock and use a bottom sling swivel. Each rifle was made with a stamped trigger group and a 20 inch pinned barrel. All are equipped with a removable folding spike bayonet and standard 17 inch cleaning rod. Most of the -Ds were equipped with a bolt carrier that has no stripper clip groove. No need for a stripper clip groove because there is no bolt hold open. The stock is lined with metal in the magwell area. This metal liner has nothing to do with retaining the magazine. It does reinforce the magwell opening and give the stock a finished look.
This rifle is relatively rare. China Sports Inc. Dallas, Texas only imported about 15,900 rifles. This rifle falls in the middle of the range as 09347. It was produced by Norinco (North Industry Corporation. Imports of this rifle were halted in 1989 due to talk of assault weapon bans. Later in 2003 the Bush administration sanctioned Norinco for selling weapons to Iran bringing a permanent end to all Norinco imports. This rifle is considered an assault weapon in many states so know your laws before purchasing.
The is as new. Condition is 95% +. No box is included. However the rifle is equipped with the original China Sports 4 x 20 scope that could be purchased as an option. If you are an SKS aficionado, this will round out your collection nicely.
I’ve included in the gallery some ads from the 80s showing how these were marketed. Ignore the original pricing, it always hurts to see that!!
